For referrers

We welcome referrals from GPs and specialists across Victoria. This page outlines our referral process, turnaround times, and how we communicate with you.

Referral process

Please send referrals with the patient’s details, reason for referral, relevant history, and any recent results. We accept referrals by post, fax, or through secure electronic referral systems (where available). Include your contact details so we can send you a letter after the patient’s appointment.

Our administration team will contact the patient to offer an appointment. We will confirm receipt of the referral with you where possible. If the referral is urgent, please mark it clearly and we will prioritise accordingly.

Turnaround times

We aim to offer routine appointments within a few days to weeks, depending on location and clinician availability. Urgent referrals are triaged and we will offer earlier appointments when clinically appropriate. We will send you a typed letter after the consultation, typically within one to two weeks, and will contact you directly if urgent action is needed.

Diagnostics available

We offer in-room ECG and can arrange echocardiography, stress testing, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. We also arrange cardiac CT and MRI through our imaging partners when indicated. Results are communicated to you in our letter and we are happy to discuss findings by phone if needed.

Secure communication

We take patient confidentiality seriously. Correspondence is sent by secure means where possible. We do not discuss patient details by unsecured email. For urgent clinical queries, please call our rooms and we will return your call as soon as practicable.
