Heart Failure Clinic – Specialist Heart Failure Care in Australia
Our heart failure clinic provides dedicated support for people living with heart failure. We focus on optimising treatment, managing symptoms, and improving quality of life through medication, device therapy when appropriate, and coordinated care with your GP and other health professionals.
Who it's for
The heart failure clinic is for patients with a diagnosis of heart failure (reduced or preserved ejection fraction), those with ongoing symptoms despite treatment, and those who may benefit from advanced therapies or device implantation (e.g. defibrillator or resynchronisation therapy).
What to expect
We will review your symptoms, medications, and recent tests (including echocardiography and blood tests). We will work with you to optimise your treatment plan, discuss lifestyle and fluid management, and arrange follow-up. When needed, we coordinate with heart failure nurses and other specialists.
When to see a cardiologist
Your GP or cardiologist may refer you to a heart failure clinic for ongoing specialist management, for consideration of advanced treatments, or if your symptoms are not well controlled.
Frequently asked questions
Heart failure means the heart is not pumping as well as it should, often leading to fatigue, breathlessness, and fluid retention. It can be managed with medication and lifestyle; many people live well with heart failure.
